Answer-1-Ceratophyllum echinatum are usually called coontails or hornworts, although hornwort is also used for unrelated plants of the division Hornworts are a group of bryophytes constituting the division Anthocerotophyta. The common name refers to the elongated horn-like structure, which is the sporophyte. As in mosses and liverworts, the flattened, green plant body of a hornwort is the gametophyte plant.

Pollination by water occurs in Ceratophyllum. These are aquatic plants. Pollination carried out through water is hydrophily. Pollination by water is quite rare in flowering plants.

Ceratophyllum is a totally submerged freshwater plant. 30-45 stamens are present in male flower. When sinking in water, female flowers come in contact with the pollen grains released from the male flower to effect pollination

Gametophyte is Dominantin case of Ceratophyllum.

Answer-2 The lycophytes are the oldest of the seedless vascular plants that have living representatives. They constitute one of the two major lines (clades) of vascular plants, which split probably in the Silurian Age(as many as 443.8 million years ago), but at least by the Devonian(beginning 419.2 million years ago)
