What is the metabolic logic regarding stimulation of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase (PDK) activity by ATP, whereas PDK activity is inhibited by ADP?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Summary :-

Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase enzyme is activated in presence of adnosine triphosphate nicotinamide , adenosine dinucleotide phosphate and acetyl Co. - A whereas the activity is reduced in ADP , NAD+ and pyruvate . There are various isoenzyme of the pyruvate dehydrogenase in humans such PDK 1, PDK 2, PDK 3, PDK 4 , Each isoenzyme responds differently to the concentration of ATP and ADP . The abnormalities are the non- functioning of the pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase leads to various disorder such as the over activity of PDK 4 leads to type II diabetes .
