For the following exercises, one card is drawn from a standard deck of 52 cards. Find the probability of drawing the following:
A club
Consider a standard deck of playing cards:
A standard deck contains 52 cards in 4 suits, 13 cards from each suit (clubs, hearts, diamonds and spades).
So, the probability of drawing a club from a standard deck will be equal to the ratio of number of club cards in the deck to the total number of cards.
That is,
P(club) = Number of club cards/Total number of cards
= 13/52
= 1/4
