For the following exercises, one card is drawn from a standard deck of 52 cards. Find the probability of drawing the following:
A two
Consider a standard deck of playing cards:
A standard deck contains 52 cards in 4 suits, 13 cards from each suit (clubs, hearts, diamonds and spades).
Hence, there are 4 cards of ‘2,’ one from each suit.
So, the probability of drawing a ‘2’ from a standard deck is equal to the ratio of number of cards of ‘2’ in the deck to the total number of cards.
That is,
P(2) = Number of card of 2/Total number of cards
= 4/52
= 1/13
P(2) = Number of card of 2/Total number of cards
= 4/52
= 1/13
