What enzymes are unique to glycolysis?
Hexokinase, phosphofructokinase, pyruvate kinase
Glycolysis if the process of breakdown of one molecule of glucose into two molecules of pyruvic acid. It is a catabolic process. Gluconeogenesis is an anabolic process in which pyruvic acid is converted into glucose. Both glycolysis and gluconeogenesis are almost reversible of each other. They are not hundred percent reversible because if they were so, then it would have led to an equal rate of formation and breakdown of glucose. There would have been no glucose in the cell so that the cell can use it. They are not sent percent reversible of each other because both of them are having three unique enzymes. Rest 7 enzymes are same and can act reversible. These different enzymes catalyse irreversible reactions.
