List and briefly explain the five (5) kinds of time that make up production cycle time
Production cycle also known as manufacturing cycle or throughput time refers to the time period which is spent to transform the raw material into finished goods. In other words it is the time period right from the start of manufacturing to the dispatching of finished product.
It involves : Process time, Move time, Inspection time, Queue time,
Process time : It is the time utilised in the process involved in actually manufacturing of the product.
Move time : The time consumed in moving or transferring the product from one workstation to other workstation.
Inspection time : The time utilised in checking, evaluating and validating whether the product is produced viably without any scope of defects.
Queue time or Idle time : It refers to the idle time that the product spends waiting in between of processing , movement, inspection and shipping.
Wait time : It refers to the length of time starting from when the receipt of customer for order is received to the point when actual production starts.
