The electron configuration of an element is 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6. Describe what most likely happens when an atom of this element comes near an atom having seven valence electrons.

Solutions

Expert Solution

We will observe no reaction. This is because element had inert gas configuration with completely filled orbitals. Inert gas element doesnot give or accept electrons. Other atom with 7 valence electrons is reactive but not the element mentioned first. Hence overall nothing happens
