Activism refers to the policy or
action of using vigorous campaigning to bring about political or
social changes.Methods of activism vary from consensus building in
the public, appealing to elected representatives, running and
funding to a political campaigns, special support (or boycott) of
businesses, and may take demonstrative form like rallies, street
marches, strikes, sit-ins
Democracy can be defined as a
government by the people or a government in which the supreme power
is vested in the people although a few are ruling here but the
power is vested in the people who will vote for them and elect them
to rule.
- Activism relates to democracy as a
tool in the hands of people through which major changes can be
brought about politically and socially which may have long term
consequences.
- Activism can broaden people's sense of social and
political engagement.It actively supports the rule of people in a
democracy.
- Activism helps people in a democracy put forth
their voices of assent or dissent and forces the government to
listen to them.
- Activism in a democracy provides a means to the
civil society to dissent from government in an informed and
reasoned manner.
- It
helps the public engage the government in matters that effect the
society and demand changes where necessary.
- It is
an expression of the angst of the general public over matters that
concern them but maybe going unheeded by the
government.

Black Lives Matter Campaign may be said to be a suitable example of
Activism in U.S.A.
