The size of the workforce in Germany is 44 million. If 62.5 % of the labor is male, find (a) yhe percent of the labor that is female and (b) the number of workers who are female
Given that the size of workforce in Germany is '44 million'. This problem is purely related to the concept of Percentages.
'62.5 %' of the labor is male. Thus, the size of the male labor = 62.5 % of 44 million
.
Out of 44 million, the size of male workforce is '27.5 million'.
We have to find the percentage of female labor and the number of female workers.
a) The percent of the labor that is female.
The total percentage of workforce is '100 %', out of which '62.5 %' is the labor that is male. So, the remaining % is the female labor.
Now, the percent of the labor that is female = =
b) The number of workers who are female.
The total workforce is '44 million', out of which '27.5 million' is male workers. So, the remaining are the female workers.
Now, the number of workers who are female = = .
Note : You can also do this using the female percent of labor, i.e., since the female workers are '37.5 %' of total workforce, their number out of '44 million' = 37.5% of 44 million
.
