Limitations of measures of spread when describing data set
There are 4 measure of spread, namely, range, quartile deviation or semi interquartile range, mean deviation and standard deviation.
Now I'll list each of their limitations one by one
Range - Range= maximum observation- minimum observation.
range is based on two extreme observations only which is minimum observation and maximum observation which themselves are subject to chance fluctuations.
Quartile deviation- Quartile deviation =(Q3-Q1) /2, where Q1 and Q3 are first and third quartiles respectively.
Quartile deviation makes use of 50% data but It ignores 50% of the data.
Mean deviation-
