Mindset is the way that we approach learning and finding solutions. With a fixed mindset, people assume that there’s a “best way” to find a solution, and that they a specific amount of ability to learn. With a growth mindset, you realize that there are many good ways to find solutions, and that you can always learn more and become better.  A higher score on the mindset quiz means that the student has more of a growth mindset.  In these examples, the units are points.

1. Compute the mean of the mindset quiz scores for the Pretest.

Show your numerator and denominator.  

2. What is the mode of the Pretest mindset quiz scores?

3. What is the median of the Pretest mindset quiz scores?

4. Based on the mean, median, and mode, do you think the Pretest distribution is positively skewed, negatively skewed, or not skewed?

5. Knowing that a higher score on the mindset quiz means that the student has more of a growth mindset, and knowing the mean, median, and mode and what the distribution looks like, what do you think about the group of students who took the Pretest?

Therefore,  the mean of the mindset quiz scores for the Pretest = 41.67

Here,

39 and 48 are repeated three times .

So, there are two mode.

They are 39 and 48

i.e., the given data is bimodal

Therefore, the mode of the Pretest mindset quiz scores are 39 and 48.

For finding median, first arrange the data in ascending order and then use the median formula.

A bimodal distribution has two values that occur frequently (two peaks).

The given data has two mode.

Therefore, the Pretest distribution is Bimodal.

Median = 40

mode = 39 & 48

It indicates most of the students score 39 and 48.

Half of the student are scores less than 40 and half of the students are more than 40.

On average the student score 41.67.
