Explanation: In the phosphate transfer reaction, a phosphate group is transferred from a phosphate donor molecule to the phosphate acceptor molecule, mostly the phosphate donor group is ATP (Adenosine TriPhosphate). The main purpose of the phosphate molecules is to transfer the inorganic phosphate (Pi) groups or the hydride (H-) ions. High energy bonds are formed with intermediates of metabolism with the help of inorganic phosphate groups. Energy is yielded by breaking down these bonds eventually driving the metabolic processes further. ATP consists of adenine attached to riose, which is attached to three phosphate groups and these three phosphate groups are attached with two phosphoanhydride bonds which are high energy bonds. When any cell needs energy to process any metabolic process or any work, ATP loses its third phosphate group releasing the energy stored in the bond and eventually the cell can use this energy released from these bonds to process the metabolic functions or any work.
