Please explain how to identify the following in given substances:
Hydrogren bonding
dipole-dipole forces
dispersion forces
London dispersion forces
Hydrogren bonding = Always present in Hydrogens which are DIRECTLY bonded to either Oxygen, Nitrogen and Fluorine ONLY. They must be honded directly, it is not possible for instance: H-C-N or H-C-O
dipole-dipole forces = Any molecule which in overall, will have a dipole, due to electron charge distribution, the positive pole forms when most of the negative electrons form a pole in the molecule, therefore, there is a dipole-dipole interaciton
dispersion forces = Present in any species with a proton and an eletron. That is, mostly all matter such as elements, pure sustances, compounds, mixtures, etc.
London dispersion forces. These type of forces are due to the dispersion of instantaneous or induced dipole between protons/electrons, similar to dipsersion forces
