Intermolecular forces
* Relate properties of substances to the predicted Intermolecular bonding of the substances
Answer) Intermolecular forces are the forces that holds atoms and molecules of a substance together. It includes force of attraction and repulsion that works among atoms and different types of particles.
Intermolecular bonding affects the physical properties of a substance like melting point, boiling point, solubility etc.
Strong intermolecular bonding causes molecules to be hold more tightly which results in high melting point, boinling point , solubility.
Lower intermolecular bonding causes higher vapour pressure.
For liquids higher the intermolecular forces, higher is the viscosity.
Higher intermolecular forces , results in higher surface tension.
