How do you think Robin Williams' suicide impacted society? Has that impact lasted?

It is been said that the Suicide of Robert Williams was caused by one of the more devastating forms of dementia that might have disrupted the normal functioning of his brain. His dementia was with Lewy bodies. One of the major impacts of Robin Williams death was that the world started to talk openly about Suicide. With the increase in conversations and the openness about Suicide, this led to an increase in the advances that led to the prevention of suicide. People began to take mental health and its problems seriously and started to acknowledge the fact that mental health problems are serious problems.

Ahead of the prejudice and stereotypes that people held for people with mental health problems, people raised funds for the treatment of mental health in his honour. With this change in perception, people who are actually struggling with mental diseases, feel more free to reach out for help, where earlier they felt cornered. People came to become aware about dementia, which is one of the more common, but ignored diseases. With the increased openness to suicide, there has also been an increase in the number of calls and strategies for suicide prevention. This tragic situation made sure that suicide prevention would now be a matter of national priority.
