Jonathan Swift's book Gulliver's Travels is often represented as a children's book, but it's actually political satire. He's taking the ridiculous things that he hears people saying around him and then trying to show the foolishness of those ideas. One of the things he addresses is the desire for eternal life. In the book, Gulliver travels to a place where people who are born with a certain birthmark have eternal life. At first, Gulliver is jealous. Then he learns that although they have eternal LIFE, they do not have eternal YOUTH. Decrepitude and dementia still creep in, but the people are unable to die. This portion of the book is (at least in part) an attempt to show that people who go to extreme measures to live forever are chasing after the wrong goal. It's not the lack of dying that matters, it's what you can do with the life you have. (Note that if eternal life is combined with a way to make good use of that life, then it becomes a good thing again.)
Similar points can be made about money, relationships, and many other things that people tell themselves are the goal of their happiness. They might be good, but not for their own sake. In fact, when they're pursued for their own sake, they can end up being a bad thing.
Identify one thing that people sometimes pursue for its own sake. Discuss what makes that thing valuable and/or important. Also point out where the pursuit of that thing might become a parody of happiness.
Its, a bit difficult to answer that what people pursue for its own sake, because every individual have different choice and idea of there own importance. But, according to me each and every individual in his whole life time search fo something, that is HAPPINESS . Happiness which is beyond any success, money, position etc. That may be happiness of peace, happiness of being with our loved ones, happiness of suppport of our family, happiness of not hurting anyone. It can be anything that's totally depand on choice of individual.
An individual in his entire life do lot of thing to stand in pace of this world and to became a winner, but its hardly matter when he win the match and there is no one to celebrate there success. Anything which achieved by an individual is became valuable and important when there is someone to appereciate it, to celebrate it. In this World we can see variety of personality and traits, because every individual is unique in his own place. Every one have there own choices and ideas to became happy and get what they want to achieve. But, we have seen many evidences where an individual want such thing in his life which is against the rule of nature. Like we can see in this story GULLIVER'S TRAVEL he went to that place where people where bleased with immorality , which is a against the rule of nature. That's why that blessing got converted in curse. They where immortal but not with the longlasting youth.
Many time we wish lot of those thing which is against the rule of nature and law, but we do for our satisfaction, which later take us to huge problem and lonliness. That's why it is needed that we search for real happiness in our life which ll remain longlasting and valuable.
