An environmentally sustainable society meets the current and future basic resource needs of the people living in it in a just and equitable manner without having any compromises on the ability of future generations to meet their basic needs.

In order to have an environmentally sustainable society, it is important that the natural resources are used judiciously without exploitation maintaining a striking balance between the usage and renewability of the natural resources.The natural resources like plants, animals, soil should be respected not at the cost of availability but at the cost of their exhaustion.

The society and economies should center the natural capitals as treasures and view their value just as economical capital. The solutions for exploitation and damage already done should be implemented with utmost concern and sincerity with members of the society as the active participants. The proponents making the policies should be having legitimate and useful insights. The implemented policies should be screened for both long term and short term benefits. All the citizens of the society should find trade off solutions to the problems in which all the stakeholders have a shared vision.

It is important to observe the rapid advancement seen in places like Chattanooga, Tennessee where the resources which once were at the verge of disruption were now at controlled level by following all round policies. These policies can be adopted to other places for better scaling up of the issues. Individuals of the society are to bear the responsibility for nurturing an environmentally sustainable society which is future ready for the coming generations and work towards the common goal for both individual and environmental benefits
