Duties and roles of treasurer as per Bhamas stamp act are as follows:

1. Treasurer can refund any amount to any person at the request of ministry out of consolidated fund..

2. if the treasurer is satisfied with the information provided to him regarding any instrument and if he thinks that such transaction is not to be charged stamp duty then it will incribe a written note on instrument exempting it from fees.

3. Treasurer can express his opinion on certain matters such as:

  • On the amount of stamp duty to be charged upon transaction or instrument.
  • On such transaction or instruments which should be charged or exempt from stamp duty.

4. If any "dissatisfied person" with the assessment of treasurer makes an appeal with Supreme Court against such assessment then it is the duty of treasurer to " state and sign "the case and to deliver a copy of such case to the person along with a copy of case to Registrar of Supreme Court .

5. Treasurer can make discount on stamp duty if authorised by Ministry at any one time on value of $20 or more.
