Government Question. 250 WORDS MINIMUM. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
Most of the democratic countries of the world have abolished capital punishment. Why do you think the United States still uses execution? If other countries had our crime rate, do you think they would want capital punishment? List arguments for and against capital punishment. Should we draw the line according to age or severity of the crime?
U,S still has execution because it is not possible for congress to abolish it throughout the U.S. .United states has 50 states and each state has its own right to form laws regarding crime. united states is a federal country and each state has its own rights. States such as New York, New Jersey, Illinois and New Mexico, Michigan etc do not have this practice, but other states can not be forced to follow the same. Hence, when it comes to capital punishments its more about those 50 states than a country "united states of america".
Capital punishment is more of an ethical issue. It might be against the policies and believes of some country to give capital punishment and they might feel that it is possible for them to bring reform in that particular criminal. But also, it is an issue of finances, if one country has enough funds to keep a criminal who has committed serious crimes such as serial killings, mass killings etc, alive then the citizens of that nation should be ready to pay higher taxes for that purpose as well. but if the crime rate in other country would be as high as that of U.S. this would become quite difficult.
Arguments for death penalty:-
1. death for deaths
2. criminals deaths could save him/her for killing others
3. important to make a safer society
arguments against:-
1. against right to life
2. doesn't solve the issue as crime continues
3. deaths provided are not always painless.
i think their should be a barrier for severity of crimes but not age as someone who is committing such serious crimes would not have been a healthy mind and age doesn't make the severity any lesser.
