Explain the location and mechanism of the resistant mutation, and why it allows the mosquito to be resistant to pestisides.
Resistant mutation is a mutation in an organism gene that allows the organism to become resistant to the particular chemical it can be a pesticide or a drug.
In the genome of mosquito mutation occurs at random it can be through any means . Mosquito overproduce certain enzyme ,which causes the enzymes to absorb the pesticide chemical before they could get into the central nervous system of insect and becomes fatal for them
example- Mosquito species culex pipens , overproduce enzyme A esterase and B esterase which absorbs the pesticide in such a large quantity before it can do any harm to the mosquito such overproduction is due to a simultaneous increase in the number of copies of one or two corresponding gene. So reason is that the genetic of mosquito adapts to the chemical to such an extent that the insecticide is not harmful for the mosquito .And because of these mutation the resistant for pesticide develops at great extent .
