2. 600ml NSS over 12hrs. What do you set the pump at?.

3. 300ml D5W over 2hrs with 20mEq K, 15gtts/ml What is the flow rate by gravity?

4. 500ml 1/2NSS at 25ml/hr How long will this run over?

5. 120ml to run over 1/2hr with macrodrip 10gtts/ml What is the flow rate by gravity?

Solutions

Expert Solution

2) Rate = volume÷ time.

Rate. = 600 ml ÷ 12hr.

= 50ml/hr.

3) flow rate by gravity = volume (min) ÷ time (hr) × drop factor.

Flow rate = (300 × 15) ÷ 120

= 4500÷120

= 37.5.

Flow rate by gravity is 37.5 gtt/min.

4) Rate = volume ÷ time

time = volume ÷ rate.

= 500 ml ÷ 25ml/ hr.

= 20 hr.

5) flow rate by gravity = volume × drop factor ÷ time.

= 120× 10 ÷ 30

= 4 ×10 .

= 40.

Flow rate is 40 gtt/min.
