1st properties

From DSC we can calculate GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE

when a given  polymer from its molten state is gradually cooled i.e its temperature is lowered then at certain point it will reach its glass transition temperature (Tg).

At this temperature mechanical properties will change from primarily elastic to that of brittle one.

2nd Properties : HEAT CAPACITY

The heat capacity of system is amount of heat required to raised the temperature of a given substance by 1 oC

If amount of heat is plotted against temperature we can calculate heat capacity from the slope

3rd Properties : CRYSTALLIZATION

At a certain point above glass transition temperature of the polymer it acquires high mobility. and chains acquires enough energy to aggregate into ordered arrangements and undergo crystallization.

It is an exothermic process

4th Properties : MELTING

Mainly polymer chains will be able to move freely around the melting temperature (Tm) and hence it does not remain in ordered arrangements. hence Melting of polymer is basically an endothermic process which requires heat
