Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer : C) Stop the infusion and notify the physician.

If The insertion site is not reddened or swollen, and stiches are intact. But the infusion slows down, then there is a chance for clot formation in picc line, it will occludes the line. So a nurse have to stop the infusion and notify the physician first and troubleshoot with the problems. As the PICC line is inserted into large central veins near heart, we should not take any risks by neglecting the slowdown of infusion. We must inform the physician to ensure patients safety.
