Define job production, batch production and mass production, and briefly state one drawback for each of these approaches to production.
Job production refers to the method of producing items for a customer in a customised fashion. Job production is customised work as per the choice of the customer.
Job production is labour intensive so involved a high cost if production. This is a disadvantage of job production.
Batch production is that method of production involving process of manufacturing goods in batches. For example, first the raw materials should be united together, this is the first batch of production, then the next stage of production of the product is done, then finally the final good will be produced. This method of production of the good is known as batch production.
As batch production involves switching of the goods from one machine to another, so it is time consuming.
Mass production is the method of producing he same set of goods in large numbers.
In mass production, the goods cannot be customised as per the choice of the customers. In this case, if a particular group of customers' demand towards that product suddenly changes then the goods cannot be customised as per the customers' choices. The goods are produced in the machineries and it's designs are already pre approved. This is a disadvantage of mass production.
