First let us understand the basic meaning of the two terms
Electron affinity: It is basically the energy released when an electron attaches to another atom.
Electronegativity: It is related to tendency of an atom to attract an electron under covalent bond Now unlike electron affinity, the electron doesn't detaches from an atom and attaches to other. The electron is shared between the atoms via covalent bond.
Now let us try and differentiate the two
1. Electron affinity can be calculated and quantified whereas electronegativity cannot be quantified. As it difficult to quantify the ability of atoms to attract an electron in covalent bond
2. Electron affinity is for an atom, whereas electronegativity is for a molecule.
In addition higher electronegativity attributes to a stronger covalent bond as atom will strongly attract the electron. But there is no way to show it in a calculative way and it vary from one molecule to another
