Definition of a Good Death is preparing someone physically, mentally, spiritually and legally during their last days. It’s also to ensure that mindful care is provided and give people a feel of acceptance.
In Sacred Heart Hospital, the entire system functions to support the elderly and people with non-curable diseases die prepared, die happily and die with a sense of gratitude and content. According to the doctors who are working there, it’s about telling the patients that they can’t cure or save them but they can make things better by being there for them and care for them.
They also talk to the relatives and family members of the patients in order to settle any final grudges between them. People feel the loss only at a thought that their beloved ones won’t comeback forever. People reconcile with the patience and accept them as they by saying sorry and thank you.
Overall, it’s about leaving this world peacefully, contented and this hospital does that, preparing people for a good death.
