Describe and discuss how climate and weather affects the stability of biodiversity and ecosystems. In our recent weather, we have experienced relatively higher amounts of wind than in previous years. Make a hypothesis on how this will affect our regional ecosystem. Make sure you argue for your hypothesis using concepts you learned in this course.
One of the important factor which influence ecosystem is climate. Changing climate affects ecosystems in many ways.Climate change is affecting the habitats of several species, which either adapt or migrate to areas with more favourable conditions. Even small changes in average temperatures can have a significant effect upon stability of ecosystem
Summer
During summer season, increase in temperature force species to migrate to higher places where temperatures are more suitable to their survival
. As rivers get warm, warmwater fish are move into areas previously inhabited by coldwater species. As waters warm, coldwater fish losing their habitat.
Rainy season
High water levels can lessen aquatic plant growth, which also reduces aquatic habitat. These aquatic algae are the source of food of zooplankton. If reduce in aquatic plants , there will reduce in population of zooplankton and it disrupt web cycle.
Rivers overflow their banks, and some animals move to higher ground. Soil nutrients diminish and erosion increases.it will lead to decrease in plant population and make the ecosystem unstable.
Wind
Wind affects growth of the plant, their reproduction, distribution and death. Wind greatly affects plants throughout their growth. When plants are seedlings wind force can damage or even break and blow down the strongest tree. Some animals are the most affected by wind and major storms because they have no home or shelter. It can lead to instability of population and ecosystem.
