How do I relate transcription and transfer of energy? Please give me detailed explanation! Thanks
Transcription is the process of synthesis of RNA from the template DNA. It involves use of enzymes, transcription factors and energy too. The energy for the process is utilized in the form of energy yielding molecules like ATP, GTP etc. These are present in cytoplasm. When, transcription occurs, these energy transforms and gets stored in the form of bonds between the nucleotides. Further, when translation/protein-synthesis will occur, the energy gets stored in the form of peptide bonds. These are present in between the amino acids of thw polypeptide chain.
Later, these proteins function as enzymes and factors. Take the case of ATP synthase. It is a protein used to synthesize energy. Thus, initially energy is needed to produce more energy. The concept is similar as that of consumption of food. We take in the food to get energy. This is stored in the molecules of carbohydrates, proteins, fats etc.
Similarly, through transcription, the energy gets stored in the molecules of RNA, then in protein. And, later it is utilised to produce ATP. That's how transfer of energy occurs.
