in this unit, we will talk about bones and muscles, our nervous system and senses, as well as how hormones regulate what's happening in our body. Please share with the class whatever you find that is related to these topics. summarized it !!
Bones give shape and structre to the body also protects the internal organs from damage. For example skull protects our brain and gives shape to the face. The rib cage protects the internal organs such as heart, lungs, liver and spleen.Bones also are storage for minerals such as calcium. Osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteocytes are the bone cells which are resposible for bone production, maintainence and modelling. Woven bone and lamellar bones are the two types of bones based on the pattern of collagen forming the osteoid. Muscles are required for the movement of bones. Bones require the aid of muscle and joints for movement. Muscles that are attached to the bones or internal organs or blood vesssels are resonsible for movement(skeletal muscle). Smooth muscles are controlled by nervous system(involuntary).Cardiac muscles are found on the walls of heart. The movement of muscle is coordinated by brain and nervous system.
Nervous system consist of brain, spinal cord, sensory organs, and all of the nerves. They control and coordinate the function of body and through the sensory organ the organism senses the external enironment and respond to it. Nervous system's function include sense, integration and motor. Sensory organs collect information and is passed to the Central nervous System(CNS) where it is evaluated, compared and used for decision making then pass to the effector cells.
Endocrine system involves the glands which make hormones, that can regulate the activity of cells and organs. Hormaones are chemical mesengers that transfer information from set of cells to another and coordinate overall functions of different body parts.Hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroids, adrenals, pineal body, and the reproductive organs (ovaries and testes) are the major glands in endocrine system. Receptors sensing the conditions, stimulate the gland to produce a hormone('releasing hormone'), it binds to the target gland to release of the 'stimulating hormone' to the circulation.
