Number | Independent Variable | Dependent Variable | Correlation |
a) | Age of manufacturing equipment | Number of rejects | Positive |
b) | Average Outdoor temp | Number of days | Negative |
c) | Number of hours worked | Total Pay | Positive |
d) | Age of the car | Number of kilometers driven | Positive |
Independent variable is the one which is input like number of hours worked because on that dependent variable (total pay) is based on. More you work more you get payment hence positive correlation.
Same way, older the equipment (independent variable) more rejects (dependent rejects) and hence positive correlation.
Older cars are driven more so age is independent and kilometer is dependent and correlation is positive.
Higher outdoor temp will lead low ski hills opening so negative correlation there.
