An eye allergy is an immune response that occurs when the eye
comes in contact with an irritating substance
A) Symptoms of eye allergies are:
1) Red and irritated eyes
2) Itchiness
3) Runny or watery eyes
4) Swollen eyelids or puffy eyelids
5) Soreness or pain
6) Scaling around the eyes
B) Causes of eye allergies are :
Eye allergies are mailny caused by certain allergens that are
triggered by allergens in the air, for example, pollen, smoke,
dust
The immune system promotes chemical changes that help in escaping
harmful invaders, for example, viruses and bacteria.
In people with eye allergies, histamine is released when the eyes
come into contact with an allergen that shows many symptoms, such
as itchy and watery eyes, can also cause a runny nose, sneezing and
coughing.
An eye allergy may happen during the spring, summer, and fall
months. Food allergies can also cause eye allergy symptoms.
C) Treatment :
Avoid triggers by changes to your home such as keep windows closed
during high pollen periods, can use A/C in your home and car.
Wear sunglasses when going out so that pollen may not enter
eyes.
Wash your hands.
Control some symptoms by medications such as: Oral antihistamines,
Decongestant eyedrops
Allergy shots called immunotherapy
Eyedrops such as : decongestant, antihistamine, mast cell
stabilizer, corticosteroid, NSAID)
