What are the Hardy-Weinberg predictions for TT, Tt, and tt?
TT | 41 |
Tt | 36 |
tt | 33 |
Total | 110 |
Let's calculate the frequency of TT
The number of TT genotype is 41 and total no of progeny are 110 so
=41/110
=0.37
Now calculate the frequency of Tt
=36/110
=0.33
Lastly the frequency of tt
=33/110
=0.3
Now let's calculate the frequency of Allele T and t
Allele frequency T is
We know
p+q=1
p is the frequency of Allele T
And q is the frequency of Allele t
Expansion of the above equation is to know for allelic frequency is
(p + q)2 = p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1
But we can also calculate allele frequencies by using the following formula
Where N is the total number of individuals in the population
p = 2N(TT)+N(Tt)/2N
p= 2*41+36/2*110
=118/220
p=0.54
By using same formula calculate q
q=2N(tt)+N(Tt)/2N
=2*33+36/220
q=0.46
Now predict the expected genotype in population by putting the value of p and q in equation
p2+2pq+q2=1
(0.54)2+2(0.54*0.46)+(0.46)2=1
0.29+0.50+0.21=1
So TT=29%
Tt=50%
And tt=21%
Hope this calculation help you
