1-pre disaster management: Pre-disaster management is related to rescue even before any possible disaster arises. The main purpose of this is to mitigate human loss .It includes development of information technology system;assessment of disaster and issuance of warning and to the people through media, radio etc. ; transporting the people in a safe place;mobilization of resource for necessary action in case of disaster occurrence etc.
2-Management during Disasters: The success of this phase depends on the level of pre disaster management phase . This is based on the process of quick action and the help of the victims of the disaster prone areas ,transporting them in safe areas. In this, food, clothing and health facilities are also provided to the people.
3-post disaster management- Under this phase , reconstruction and redevelopment of affected areas is done .Also, the affected people are given employment or compensation.
The United Nations defines a disaster as a serious disruption of the functioning of a community or a society. Disasters involve widespread human, material, economic or environmental impacts, which exceed the ability of the affected community or society to cope using its own resources.
The Red Cross and Red Crescent societies define disaster management as the organization and management of resources and responsibilities for dealing with all humanitarian aspects of emergencies, in particular preparedness, response and recovery in order to lessen the impact of disasters.
