The multistage compressor with intercooler is placed in between LPC (Low Pressure Compressor) and HPC (High Pressure Compressor)as shown in fig.1.The main use ofan intercooler is to minimize the temperature of the compressed air in the compression stages. The process of intercooling which reduces the volume of air.The air compressed in the first stage and enters into the intercooler for cooling the air and there by reducing its temperature. After intercooling, the air is input to the next stage(second stage).

In gas cycle, the intercooler will increase the work ratio of the gas cycle.

Actually an intercooler is placed in between (or connecting) Low Pressure Compressor(LPC) & High Pressure Compressor (HPC).
