The key goal of messaging for enterprise computing is that it decouples resources,allows business components to be combined into a reliable,flexible system with extremely loose coupling between components.
These characteristics are desired for 2 reasons:it makes the application more modular and it makes the application more reliable.
Java techniques used:JMS API(Java Message Service )is to unify the packing of these capabilities and to minimize the set of conceptsthat must be learned inorder to use messaging products.It also strives to maximize the portability of messaging applications.
Advantages of JMS API specification are to:
provide a single ,unified message API
provide an API suitable for the creation of messages that match the format used by existing non JMS applications
Supports the development of heterogeneous applications that span opearating systems,platforms,architechture,and computer languages.
Support messages that contain serialized Java objects.
support messages that contain XML pages.
The Java message Queue product also implements a virtually connected network.The arrangement removes the burden of managing connections from the user program by making a separate process called router.
