I HAVE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE
There are many choices i have regretted but one thing that i will never ever regret is taking Economics in my higher secondary education.
To talk about myself, I'm from a middle class background family in India. We have been always told that the best professions in this country are Medical (doctors) and Engineering ( to become engineers ). We all were in this rat race of getting higher marks in class 10, take science and get good college, then our life is totally settled. But i was really not good in Science, neither i wanted to be a participant of this rat race. Strangely i had a knack for physics, So i was conceptually good by then. I hated every subject and in our education system, there were only 3 streams. Science, Commerce and Humanities.
The fact that i was good in mathematics, i decides to go with Commerce and to be honest i hated Accountancy as well. To tell the truth, i even saw a rat race here for becoming chartered accountant and cost accountant. Also i kind of used to find it a lot boring, doing the same old calculation and being good at it. I wanted to learn something which can drive me into the world of fascination. I felt commerce too was not for me and i was losing hope too.
Then i came across this subject Economics. At first i didn't used to like it as well but slowly i realized it has a world of it's own. I really liked critical thinking and this was exactly what the subject was making me do. Each day passing by, i felt i am falling in love with this subject. Interest is a key factor and it was the key which was about to open my doors.
I passed out class 12, with 95/100 in Economics. Pursued my B.Sc and M.Sc in Economics. Currently I am doing my teachers training to be Teacher/Professor in School/College level.
And when i will become one i will always tell the students to always pursue subject based on their interest and never on someone else's whim. As you grow older you, get a job, you realise you sacrified way too much for the dreams your parents/relatives/society had. Never did you think of doing something for yourself for the better. Life will go on.
I made the right choice because i followed my desires, gave importance to my interest and got to learn so much from this Subject. Something i will never regret, something for which I will be always thankful.
Volunteer work/ good deed i have done
My dream was to impart education on a much wider level and u really wished if my knowledge can reach the unreachable. Hence when i was doing my masters i enrolled in a NGO named Bhumi. I really wanted to contribute something for the society and i feel that there is a need for it, considering i belong from a country where poverty is something we come across in most of the city outskirts or even in few parts of the city.
I was privileged to be part of this organisation as it allowed me to teach in government Schools and make mid day meal arrangements. I taught them how to do addition, substraction with illustrative examples and it was so fun doing it.
Deep within the satisfaction you receive when you come home and those little faces cover up your entire stress (when you think about them) is something i really can't describe in words. Whenever i used to get up from the bed in those days, i always used to feel very energetic, thinking how really greatful they are for our little contributions, their happy faces made me smile over and over again.
If i get a task like that one day, i would definitely sign myself up for those. Doing something that makes you happy because someone else is happy is really something i wish to look forward to.
