What is the overall impact of the Affordable Care Act, including efficiency, consumer choice, quality, and social equity perspectives?
Overall impact of affordable care act (ACA) is positive upon the society and community, because is developed with the perspective of poor people. The focus of the ACA is not only to expand the coverage, but also to bring quality of services delivered as a criteria for billing and payment to the service providers. It has ensured to establish ethical practices and issues faced by the patients. It has given a consumer choice as well and even if they have pre-existing diseases, then also they are to be covered under the ACA program. Social equity is covered only with the perspective of health care, but social equity is also bout income distribution and employment that is not covered under the ACA. But, the program is able to deliver much needed relief to the poor people in terms of reimbursement of medicine costs. The ACA program, requires a huge volume of funds that is to be procured and it can affect the future generation. So, efficiency of the program in terms of delivering benefits is good, but in terms of making negative impact upon future generation is doubtful.
So, overall impact is considered to
be positive, of much relief and beneficial to the community due to
ACA.
