List the four major classes of organic molecules
Please answer all 3 no need to go too much in Depth
1. What is the composition of the Benedict reagent?
10% anhydrous sodium carbonate, 17.3% sodium citrate and 1.73% copper(II) sulphate pentahydrate.
For 100 ml, dissolve 10 g of anhydrous sodium carbonate, 17.3 g of sodium citrate and 1.73 g of copper(II) sulphate pentahydrate and make up to 100 ml using distilled water.
2. List the basic units of the four major classes of organic molecules
Amino acids – Proteins
Monosaccharides (glucose, fructose, galactose, etc.) – Carbohydrates
Fatty acids – Lipids
Nucleotides – Nucleic acids (DNA& RNA).
