Considering the three main areas of promotion
(advertising, marketing, and public relations) do you believe
public relations is a valuable tool? Why or why not?
Is it more or less effective than advertising?
Why?
Do you think society pays more attention to
advertising or public relations? Why?
Public relations involve building of the positive image of the organization among the people and target audience so that it makes a positive branding and goodwill in the market. It is a valuable tool, because it makes consumers to belief that products will also be equally as the good image of the organization that has produced it. It develops a connection and people buy the products. Besides, it also increases the local acceptability among the people due to the PR initiatives. So, it is the public relation initiatives, that gives many direct and indirect benefits to the organization.
Public relations initiatives are used in collaboration of the advertising, because it does not communicate the products specifications and benefits to the audience. Hence, advertising is more valuable and long lasting, because it is the product's conformance to quality and its ability to cater the needs and wants of the consumers, that brings customers to the organization. Due to advertising, people can correlate and come to buy the products. PR will only help bring loyal customers come to the outlets to buy the products. Hence, advertising has a more significant role to play to spread awareness, educate and attract people to the offerings made by the organization.
Society pays attention to PR drive,
because it is the PR that develops good image and it is more
oriented to the societal perspective. Further, PR is intended to
sensitize the society with its work. Rather, advertising is more
focused to the target audience and its specific needs.
Here, one society can have different consumer segments and each
segment is differently touched by advertising. But, PR drive,
touches them collectively. So, PR is more focused upon the society
and community.
