Answer:-
Genetic drift is a process in which alteration in a allelic frequency occurs in a population or in a gene pool due to some random events and do not takes place by environment challenges. This process is also known as allelic drift or random drift. Genetic drift results in large number of changes in a population in a very less time. It is non-directional and also leads to non-adaptive evolution whereas, founder effect is a type or an example of genetic drift, in which small or few number of people or population migrates from the original population in order to develop new colony which results in the loss of genetic variation in the new population. The newly formed population termed as founder and doesn't affect the original population. Founder effect often results in the evolution of new species.
