Based on a sample of 150 items, in which 45 items exhibited the trait deemed to be a success, when constructing a 95% confidence interval... a) ...what is the low-end value of the confidence interval? b) ...what is the high-end value of the confidence interval? c) ...is it reasonable to assume the population proportion is 38%? (Y or N)
z for 95% confidence is 1.96
p is 45/150=0.3 and therefore q is 1-0.7
thus lower bound and upper bound is
thus lower is 0.3-1.96*sqrt(0.3*0.7/150)=0.22666
upper bound is 0.3+1.96*sqrt(0.3*0.7/150)=0.37334
also it is not reasonale to assume this because it lies outside of the lower and upper bounds
