Explain why an increasing number of people choose to cohabit instead of marriage; state your position on if you personally agree or disagree in cohabitation.

There is an increase in number of people choosing cohabitation over marriage because of the following reasons:

  • Marriage requires a deep commitment compared to cohabitation.
  • To avoid the pain and sufferings of divorce of marriage.
  • Responsibility is lesser in cohabitation as compared to marriage.

Compared to marriage cohabitation is a relationship were the commitment towards each other is less,the partners are more free ,have got more freedom and space. The risk of divorce is not there,also the responsibility of looking after one's family, the commitment for looking after and upbringing of children is not as rigid as in marriage, hence more people are choosing cohabitation instead of marriage.

Marriage is more stable,deep and committed relationship.It requires the virtues of selfless love, sacrifice, patience and tolerance.Is a fulfilling experience when it is completed with children and when they grow up to be good human beings.
