Identify the top five global health issues from your personal experiences. What socio-economic factors are driving each of these issues?
Following are the five global health issues driven by socioeconomic factors---
In a healthy well being socioeconomic conditions affect 20%
1) low birth weight-- low birth weight is a very common cause of infant mortality. in a particular society or a particular group the chances of having preterm labor and a low birth weight baby are more. Economically well settled and fulfilled family has less chances of having a low weight baby.
2) AIDS or sexually transmitted diseases-----the social conditions including education, lifestyle, and individuals' social status do matters when we have to talk about aids or STDs. An educated man is more aware of do's and don'ts if we talk about a particular disease e.g, AIDS.
3) cancer----- there are various ways of treating different types of cancers. But not all can afford all kinds of treatment. Hare economic condition matters the most. Chemotherapy drugs radiation therapy and many costly procedures can't be afforded by every client.
4) mental illness---- if we're talking about global health issues in we cannot miss mental health issues. Many of the mental illnesses includes and stability in social ground and economic ground as a risk factor. Disturb socio-economic condition of a client can lead to alcoholism, depression, mood disorders, etc
5) cardiovascular disorders---- cardiovascular diseases are very common in the US. Social factors include an unhealthy lifestyle. An unhealthy dietary intake and lack of body movement will lead to various cardiovascular diseases. Most of the reason is the awareness about the impact of maladaptive lifestyle on increasing cardiovascular diseases.
