The 3 Basic Rights of Workers (Source: Government of Canada CCOHS)
In Canada, all workers have 3 basic rights:
Right to refuse unsafe work.
Right to participate in the workplace health and safety activities through the Health and Safety Committee (HSC) or as a worker health and safety representative.
Right to know, or the right to be informed about, actual and potential dangers in the workplace.
Identify one (1) potential scenario or situation for each of the 3 basic rights. How would you approach your employer about each basic right?

Rights are the freedom to choose if to do or not do something
Right to refuse work is the right to not carry out your duties at work if an employee feels that there are impending dangers or reasons that can cause dangers .
Right to refuse work
Q1 .Right to refuse unsafe work ;any employee is legally allowed to refuse dangerous work as long as they have reasonable cause to believe that it presents danger.
1.To use or operate a machine that constitutes a danger to the employee and another employee.
2.To work in a place that poses danger ,
3.To perform an activity that constitutes a danger to the employee or another employee.
A worker can refuse to work n a steam producing unit sighting machine faults leading to overheating that can cause a lot of accidents and burns to the other workers
Participation on safety and health through safety health committee can be applied in the following way
1.Workers being given the opportunity to participate as a member of the health and safety committee
2.Being a representative for the workplace after being elected by represent by the members or management
3.Reporting of a concern that could whenever there is a genuine possible accident scenario that could cause harm to individual employee and others .
4.Giving input on how best to improve the situation and make work environment safe
Once a member has reported on an issue investigations should commence immediately and step by step procedure taken in order to mitigate the accident .
Q3.Right to know of imminent danger;
This means that as a worker you have the right to be informed of the impending danger, to be educated ,trained and supervised where necessary. information should be relayed through codes of practices ,safe work practices ,verbal and written . example in the catering industry a worker should be informed of burns and cuts as impending danger , training on how to carry out fist aid should be done
