Describe how transactional behaviors and co-activators work including the zinc fingers and leucine zippers
Zinc fingers are structural motifs that have more than one zinc ionwjich help is fold stabilisation. There would be many finger like outgrowths which would be making contacts along with the target molecule. These work by binding to the DNA in the TFIIA transcription factor. The binding of the motif will be depending on the amino acid sequence present in the finger domain. These would be found in the clusters.
Leucine zipper motifs are also referred to as leucine scissors where there are three dimensional motifs. There is presence of 30 amino acids which would be present on the alpha helix, where at every 7th position, there would be a leucine residue. Most zippers would be showing high affinity of binding at the ACGR motifs that eould be binding to thr G box or the C box or the A box or the T box. also, there would be high affinity for GCN4 motif. Also, there is recognition of palindromic sequences by the OsOBF1. Also, these proteins would be forming heterodimers so that there would be regulation of activities of transcription.
