Describe the "war on alcohol" in the 1920s and what was the role of the Klan in that process?
WAR ON ALCOHOL was a prohibition on the trade of alcohol from 1920 to 1933. it was a nation wide constitutional ban on the production, importation,transportation and sale of liquors to reduce crime and corruption and to improve heath & hygiene in united states.
firstly,consumption of alcohol declined due to prohibition but later the effect was something different, prohibition gave the negative effect on the united states ..it tends to drive the market undergone and beacuse of unavailaibilty of liquors, organized crime gained control on liquor supply by this way crime and corruption increased in united nations . it was a failure experiment to solve social problems.
klan supported prohibition,this gave the organization recognition and a way to promote their views as law and order organization.This organization believe to clean communities and stop violence against people of color , cathelic and jews..so klan support prohibition with their broader mission to purify the nation.
