There are four principles of Human Space Time Theory of Nursing Engagement (SHSTTNE) they are:
-Interconnectivity
-Equitability
-Emancipation
-Human transcendence
INTERCONNECTIVITY
It is a principle of human interconnectedness of energy.Energy is continuously moving from "subatomic particles to the biosphere, including the planet earth ,all forming a whole"(Patterson,1998,p.289).Interconnectivity leads to the understanding of holism that the bio-psychop-social-spritual dimensions of persons are interrrelated (Lai and Hseih,2003) and that the whole being is more than the sum of its organs or systems. The nurse does not focus only on biological curing but considers the healing aspect of the whole person's being.Applying the principle of interconnectivity through Interpersonal Relating (IR),Technological Knowing (TK),Rhythmical Connecting (RC) and Transformational Engaging (TE),the nurse embraces meaningful connectedness with their patients as whole persons, with the coexistence of human caring and technologies, with the synchronicity among modernist and postmodernist nursing care approches, and with transformations across nursing engagements.
EQUITABILITY
It is a principle of justice and fairness in human caring across healthcare systems. It revolves around value-based concept of equity implying fairness in access to healthcare related to the situation context despite differences in methods, utilization and outcomes (Cloninger et al.,2014).It is also rely on the fairness in access to the servise within the organization. In applying equitability ,the nurse is cognizant of the differences between equalitty and equity.
EMANCIPATION
Emancipation is priniciple of liberating the self and others from the limits of HST realities. The HST realities of includes human factors or attributes such as fear, shame, lack of knowledge ,powerlessness and human resources.Space factor determines the internal environmental limitations (physiologic, psychologic, emotional and spiritual conditions) and external environmental limitations refer to the socio economic political challenges as well as the organizational dynamics that influence the nurse and nursed.
HUMAN TRANSCENDENCE
It inducates the personal growth of persons and professional growth among the nurses.Pharris(2015) described the charcteristics of growth as "assertion of self ,to emancipation of self,to transcendence of self ".Through human transcendence nurses and the nursed can rise beyond their present difficulties.Just as self transcendence is revealed in the expansion of self boundaries that enhances well-being(Reed,2015),human transcendence is also evidence in the ability to go beyond the limits of the HST through nursong engagement that fosters human health and well being.Resilience ,for example ,is meaningfully connected with well being through human transcendence.
APPLICATION OF SYNCHRONICITY IN THE HST THEORY IN PRACTICE
-Interpersonal Relating (IR) is the nurturance of a relationship that appreciates the self and others as whole and transcendental beings, connecting to the nursed illuminated in the dance of caring persons(Boykin and Schoenfer,2013) in which synchronicity is founded.
-Technological Knowing (TK) is adapted from Locsin (2015) Theory of Technological Competency as Caring in Nursing,TK is focused on providing authentic and human caring. Moreover, the complementarity of caring and technology is emphasized by the nurse's technological competency to the synchronistic life event shared with the nursed within the HST.
-Rhytmical Connecting (RC) means dancing to the candence of treatments and nursing activities where each meaningful, caring experience is not merely encounter, but a fit into a rhythmical pattern through which the HST is nurtured.
-Transformational Engaing (TE) refers to the process of intimately concurring with the recognized improvement of the caring moment and human health experiences, a continous evaluation and infinite reflection of wholeness by both the nurse and nursed.
