Insomnia is categorized as primary or secondary.Primary insomnia is not related to other health problems.Secondary insomnia is environmental,emotional or psychologic in origin.

Psycho physiologic insomnia is a primary insomnia characterized by learned or conditioned sleepy preventing associations and heightened physiologic response to stress.These clients they fall asleep unintentionally low-stimulus situations such as watching television,but feel increased wakefulness when they go to bed.Easier to fall asleep other than in bedroom .

Relaxation exercise is helpful and should be practiced other than bed time.

EEG -during these test vary with the stages of sleep,when person falls asleep,the high frequency and low-amplitude pattern of the awake state is gradually replaced by the progressively lower frequency and higher amplitude pattern of stage 1.Non rapid eye movement sleep.
