Tuition reimbursement is a great tool not only for the employees but also for the organization that provides it. Most organizations that have this benefit require the employees to obtain a grade of C or higher to earn the benefit. If this is the only requirement for the reimbursement, many organizations could be taken advantage of just for a degree. The company that I work for provides tuition reimbursement, but they also have further requirements that must be met. First, the employee must be employed for at least six months before applying for the reimbursement. Second, the classes that are taken must contribute to a degree that will benefit the organization. This means that it cannot be for a certificate. Additionally, in a sales and customer service organization, a degree in the medical field would not qualify. They do also require that the class is passed with a C or higher. If they are receiving aid from another source the reimbursement will only cover tuition that is not paid for by the other source. And the last requirement is that the employee must stay employed with the organization for at least a year after the benefit was received. If they leave prior to a year they must pay the reimbursement back to the company. With all these additional requirements there is less confusion surrounding the benefit.

Tuition reimbursement is a great scheme that helps an employee to develop their skills and education further along with financial stability or along with a job . But this scheme or benefit must have some conditions otherwise the company providing such a benefit will suffer from adverse selection problems . Employees might use this benefit for any degree or personal skill development that is of no use to the company .
So an employee who has worked for atleast 6 months , pursuing a degree that will contribute to company's growth in future should be granted such a benefit . The employee should also obtain good grades . The employee receives the reimbursement only for the part of the tuition fees that goes from his pocket . Also it is mandatory for the employee to work in the organization for atleast a year after the benefit was received .
The company levies these additional requirements only to safeguard the interest and investment of the company . Investment in human resource or soft skill development is a life long benefit for the employee since this training will fetch him better jobs and salary in future . Companies are profit making organizations who only invest for profit maximization , so in order to ensure the benefits from reimbursement scheme they have such regulations .
