Expert Solution

Samples which are hemolyzed can invalidate certain tests. It is true that hemolyzed samples are not used because in this samples there will be a high concentration of falsely elevated concentration of potassium, LDH, GGT and AST.

1) AST test - The aspartate aminotransferase (AST) test is used as a blood test that checks for liver damage. This test is used to find out liver disease and to monitor proper treatment. Increased levels of AST in the blood may indicate hepatitis, cirrhosis, mononucleosis, or other liver diseases. Heamolyzed sample can elevate the AST level and invalidate the results.

2) GGT test -Gamma-glutamyl transferase test is used to diagnose bliver problems. GGT level is an indicator of damage to the liver or bile ducts, chronic alcohol abuse, or certain bone diseases.

3)LDH test -The lactate dehydrogenase test is used to identify the LDH is an enzyme which are found in almost all cell of our body It includes blood, muscles, brain, kidneys, and pancreas. The enzyme turns carry-out the function of conversion of sugar into energy. This test measures the amount of LDH in blood or other body fluid .It is a signs of damage to the body's tissues.

Following test level are decreased when we use heamolyzed sample

1) HCT test -hematocrit test is uesd to measures how much of our blood is made up of red blood cells.Hematocrit levels that are too high or too low can indicate to certain blood disorder, dehydration, or other medical conditions.

2) aPPT test - activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) test is a screening test that helps to evaluate a person's ability to appropriately form blood clots. It is used to measures the time in seconds which takes for a clot to form in a sample of blood after substances are added.

3) Bilirubin test -it is used to measures the amount of bilirubin in blood. The level of Bilirubin help to find the cause of health conditions like jaundice, anemia, and liver disease. The use of heamolyzed sample leads to decrease in the level of Bilirubin.

Alpha thalassemia is a blood condition resulting from abnormal hemoglobin production, due to loss of function of copies of either HBA1 or HBA2 genes. These genes are very similar, and for simplicity’s sake we talk about having four copies of the HBA gene (two copies of each). HBA1 and HBA2 genes are located next to each other, and therefore are described within the same allele. For example, αα indicates that both HBA1 and HBA2 copies on an allele are functioning,...
